Trans Adriatic Pipeline Submits Application for Inclusion in the Rete Nazionale Gas (RNG) Grid

Baar, Switzerland. The Trans Adriatic Pipeline AG (TAP) has made another significant step in its progress of the TAP project and submitted its official application to the Italian Ministry of Economic Development in Italy for inclusion in the Rete Nazionale Gas (RNG) Grid. Once the request is granted, TAP will be officially registered as an interconnector to the Italian gas network with approximately 15km of onshore pipeline in Puglia and connecting to Snam’s national gas network near Brindisi. This will accelerate TAP's progress in Italy.
The request for inclusion in the Rete Nazionale Gas will be followed by a detailed study of the Environmen-tal, Social Impact Assessment which will make use of the extensive stakeholder engagement program con-ducted in the Brindisi area in 2009. Once the inclusion is granted, TAP will benefit from the processing of all applications and permits in Italy by the central and local governments.

About TAP
The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) is a pipeline project, measuring 520km in length that will transport natural gas from the Caspian Sea and Middle East regions to Europe. The gas pipeline will start in Greece near Thessaloniki, cross Albania and the Adriatic Sea, and enter Italy near Brindisi. In Greece and Italy, TAP will tie into the existing national gas systems. The pipeline will have a gas transportation capacity of 10 BCM, expandable to 20 BCM, adding to its long-term value. TAP is a joint venture of the Swiss EGL Group and Norway's Statoil. The project is supported by the European Union as a project of common interest under the Trans-European Energy Networks guidelines.

Baar, Svizzera. La Trans Adriatic Pipeline AG (TAP) ha compiuto un altro importante passo avanti nell'ambito del progetto TAP presentando al Ministero dello Sviluppo Economico italiano la sua prima domanda ufficiale di inclusione nella Rete Nazionale Gas (RNG). La domanda indica che, una volta approvata, la TAP sarà registrata ufficialmente come interconnettore alla rete gas italiana con circa 15 km di gasdotto "onshore" in Puglia, che si allaccia alla rete della Snam nelle vicinanze di Brindisi.
La richiesta di inclusione nella Rete Nazionale Gas sarà seguita da una dettagliata Valutazione di Impatto Ambientale e Sociale che sarà prevedibilmente avviata nel corso dell'anno, facendo seguito all'ampio impe-gno delle parti interessate nella zona di Brindisi nel 2009. Dopo l'approvazione dell'inclusione, la TAP sarà avvantaggiata dal fatto che tutte le procedure relative alle domande e ai permessi necessarie in Italia saran-no evase a livello di governo centrale.

Il Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) è un progetto di gasdotto, lungo 520 km, che trasporterà il gas naturale dal Mar Caspio e dalle regioni mediorientali in Europa. Il gasdotto partirà dalla Grecia, nei pressi di Thessaloniki, attraverserà l’Albania e il Mar Adriatico, quindi approderà in Italia vicino a Brindisi. In Grecia e in Italia, il TAP si connetterà alle reti gas nazionali esistenti. Il gasdotto avrà una capacità di trasporto pari a 10 BCM di gas, espandibili a 20 BCM, incrementando il suo valore sul lungo periodo. TAP è una joint venture tra il gruppo svizzero EGL e la norvegese Statoil. Il progetto è sostenuto dall’Unione europea in qualità di progetto di interesse comune nell’ambito delle linee guida delle Reti energetiche transeuropee.
