TAP provides widely-sought diversification of gas supply in Europe. The project is supported by the European Union as a project of common interest under its Trans-European Energy Networks (TEN-E) guidelines, as it is seen contributing to the EU’s objectives and policies aimed at supply diversification and security of supply.
The TAP Project is currently in the front-end engineering (FEED) design stage. A pre-feasibility study has been conducted in 2003, followed by a full feasibility study in 2004/2005, confirming the project's where the technical, environmental and economic feasibility.
The feasibility study, which was the first phase of the project development, was concluded in March 2006. The extended basic engineering for the pipeline was also completed in its entirety in March 2007 and it has included the offshore survey for the pipeline, which was carried out in 2006.
