Today’s pipeline systems that can transport gas from the Caspian Sea and Middle East regions stretch to the border with Greece, after transiting Turkey. Natural gas from these regions currently cannot reach European markets because there is no pipeline in place. Simply put, a link to Europe is missing between Greece and Italy. Such a pipeline, lying on an almost straight route across part of Greece, Albania and the Adriatic Sea, is the next logical and transport-efficient step.
TAP will fill this gap in the southern Europe and will enable gas supplies from the Middle East and Caspian Sea regions.
